Piazza Matteotti, on Via San Lorenzo, is dominated by the Neoclassical facade of the Palazzo Ducale. It is also the site of the church of the Gesù, built by Tibaldi in 1597, home to Guido Reni's Assumption and two canvases by Rubens. Beyond, on Piazza De Ferrari is the prestigious Carlo Felice theatre.
