The Michelin Guide's review
This mid-15C fortified house stands on a rock overlooking the Fleet Estuary. The rectangular tower was raised at a time when builders took care to add fine detail to their constructions (jambs, capitals and headings). A spiral staircase linking the various storeys leads up to the parapet (79 steps) offering a fine view over the Fleet and the estuary with the peninsula of Wigtown on the horizon.
