The Michelin Guide's review
The Fango valley and neighbouring valleys make up the Filosorma, a small relatively uninhabited territory of Balagne. It was for many centuries a major transit route for the Niolo flocks which passed through the Guagnerola and Capronale passes in summertime. Their passage led to the region being partially deforested, with meadows and moors replacing the woodland. Since 1977, 23,400ha of the Fango Valley have become a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
