The Michelin Guide's review
Brick-paved streets, wide boulevards and early 20C commercial buildings—some housing pleasant outdoor cafes—help maintain the character of Gainesville's old downtown. A local landmark, the clock tower contains the original clock from the second Gainesville courthouse. The grand Beaux-Arts style 1909 post office building fronted by a two-story Cornitian portico is now home to the Hippodrome State Theatre.
