The National Museum of the Pacific War is set in nine acres of grounds honoring Admiral Chester Nimitz, a World War II hero and Fredericksburg native. The George Bush Gallery showcases objects from the war, including a B-25 aircraft and a midget submarine captured off Hawaii. The Plaza of the Presidents pays tribute to 10 US presidents. Behind the museum lies the Garden of Peace, a traditional Oriental garden presented in respect of Nimitz by the people of Japan.
