The Michelin Guide's review
Created by Ghirlandaio in 1483, the decorative scheme of the Sassetti Chapel is Santa Trinita's main attraction. Relating the Life of St Francis of Assisi, the artist painted a series of portraits of his contemporaries. In the depicted scenes may be discerned the Palazzo Vecchio, the Loggia della Signoria, the church of Santa Trinita, Lorenzo il Magnifico and (kneeling) the donors Francesco Sassetti and his wife, who lie in the magnificent tombs on either side of the altar.
