Évry Cathedral
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Architect Mario Botta created this extraordinary cathedral consecrated in 1996. Its surprising design features an unusual cylindrical shape, cut at the summit by an oblique plane and crowned with 24 lime trees, and the use of brick, uncommon in religious architecture. The highly sober interior has adopted theatre techniques for its acoustics. In the crypt, admire the cross, the tabernacle and a statue of the Virgin Mary, all works by Gérard Garouste.
