Walking across this garden, located just below the church, Igreja de São Francisco, you will see a section of King Manuel's palace (16C), which has unfortunately been extensively remodelled, as well as remnants from another 16C palace. Note the Luso-Moorish gemelled, keyhole-arch windows. This is a great place to stop off for a picnic. There is a kiosk with a terrace area where you can have a drink in the sunshine.
