In the centre of this picturesque square you will notice a fine Renaissance fountain consisting of a column with a white marble sphere on top. The square is lined by some attractive houses, including, to the south, the 16C Casa Cordovil. To the west, lower down, the Baroque portal of the church of the former Convento do Carmo can be admired. The east of the square is taken up by the modern building of the law courts.
