The Michelin Guide's review
The conditions of those imprisoned in Kilmainham prison in the 19C, particularly of the women and children, were cruel beyond words, and the number of hangings was incredibly high. The prison has been turned into a place of remembrance, symbolising English oppression and the Irish spirit of resistance. Most nationalists were imprisoned here between 1792 and 1924. The museum keeps souvenirs related to the establishment's history and the patriotic movement.
