Grand Canal Dock (1796), south of the Liffey, was for many years the largest docks the world. Gradually abandoned after the advent of the railway, they have been spectacularly rehabilitated, although the work is still unfinished: daring contemporary architecture, water all around, lots of space, housing, bars and restaurants, etc.
