The Michelin Guide's review
The Garden of Remembrance was laid out in the north part of Parnell Square in honour of the victims of the 1916 Uprising (refusal of British conscription) near the location where the insurrection was planned, and in the very square where the rebels were held prisoner overnight. Celtic motifs decorate the gates. The broken lances in the mosaic evoke the Celtic tradition whereby lances are thrown into the water after battle.
