The Michelin Guide's review
Sited on a slope dominating Dornach and Arlesheim, the Goetheanum is disconcerting on account of its immensity and architecture. This concrete cathedral void of right angles is the home of the "universal anthroposophical movement". Founded in 1912 by Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925), this philosophical and spiritual society established "free schools" promoting a teaching style adaptable to each individual child. Don't miss the extraordinary spike-shaped boiler room.
