Standing 345m above sea level, Slieve Elva is an unusual landscape made up entirely of heaps of limestone. The rocks resemble a remarkable tangle of stone chimneys, canyons, plateaux cleaved by valleys; strange monumental boulders lie here and there, as if strewn about at the will of some facetious god. And when you get lost among these stone meanders, you might well chance upon the most exotic of Alpine and Mediterranean flowers: blue gentians, burnet roses, orchids...
