Brown Palace Hotel
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Five US presidents and the Beatles have stayed at "The Brown", Denver's most luxurious hotel (1892, Frank Edbrooke), an emblematic eight-storey, Italian Renaissance-style property built in red granite and sandstone. Twenty-six stone medallions depicting Rocky Mountain animals embellish the windows on the sixth floor. Interior balconies, framed by ornate ironwork, rise eight stories above the atrium beneath a stained-class ceiling. Afternoon tea is served in the lobby to great pomp and a background of music.
