With its L shape inherited from the 15C, the Lange Voorhut is one of the finest examples of town planning in Europe. In the 18C, magnificent patrician residences were built along its shaded avenues, which are nowadays the residences of ambassadors or cultural institutions, such as the Diligentia theatre and the Escher museum. Nowadays, the Lange Voorhout is the place to stroll in the city as well as the setting for festivals, exhibitions and an antiques' market.
