In 1773, Willem V, stadtholder of the United Provinces, had the second floor of his residence transformed into a painting gallery. An annexe of the Mauritshuis museum, Prince Willem V's gallery is well worth a visit to admire its walls covered with three tiers of paintings as it once was in former times.
