The Michelin Guide's review
As the active Llaima volcano still occasionally emits lava, the Parque Nacional Conguillío, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, can occasionally be closed to the public. With its dense forests of monkey puzzle trees, colourful canyons, fast-flowing rivers, high-altitude lakes and snow-capped volcanoes, the Araucania region has been protected since 1950.
