The Michelin Guide's review
This imposing secondary chain of mountains on the island's median crest features Corsica's second-highest peak (2 622m altitude). For a long time it was thought to be the highest point on the island. As it is relatively easy to climb (the only potential difficulty being the late snow), the mountain remains one of Corsica's most frequented. You can approach Monte Rotondo from the north (a day's walk from the Vallée de la Restonica) or from the south (a two-day excursion with a stopover at the mountain refuge of Pietra Piana).
