The Michelin Guide's review
George Merrick's childhood home, with its distinctive gabled roof, was added in 1906 to the modest wooden structure built on the land by Merrick's father around 1899. Designed by Merrick's mother, this house built using oolitic limestone (coral rock) and Dade County pine is inspired by typical New England architecture but adapted to the region's subtropical climate. The interior is appointed with period furnishings. The surrounding gardens are home to trees from the original plantation.
