Sited on a triangular spur defined by two steep-sided rocky valleys, the Roman ruins of Conímbriga, with their well-preserved mosaics, are among the finest on the Iberian peninsula. Among the most remarkable vestiges are the Casa de Cantaber (named after the owner), one of the largest residences anywhere in the Western Roman Empire, and Casa dos Repuchos.
