The Michelin Guide's review
The Lauch river, lined by colourful half-timbered houses, formerly the homes of fishermen and boaters, cuts through the heart of Colmar, earning it the name of Little Venice. Starting at the shopping hall (1865), rehabilitated as a covered market, you can explore the picturesque Krutenau district which used to be inhabited by market gardeners. A small walk along the pleasant Quai de la Poissonnerie leads to St Peter's bridge where you will have an attractive view over "Little Venice ". The city can also be discovered by boat.
