The Michelin Guide's review
Now dwarfed by high rises, the structures of the Chicago Water Tower and Pumping Station (built in the late 1860s) were the only two to survive the 1871 fire. Today, a lovely park surrounds the water tower, while the pumping station, though still operational, has been refitted as the home of the Lookingglass Theatre.
