The Michelin Guide's review
This 7km-long paved avenue leads to the tomb of Chang (a Ming emperor). Known as a Spirit Way, it begins beneath a triumphal arch, before passing through a pavilion housing the tallest stele in China, supported by a turtle resembling a dragon. It then continues, lined by sculptures of animals, both real and mythical, as well as Chinese dignitaries. In total, 12 pairs of animals face each other on either side of the avenue, in addition to 12 high-ranking officials.
