The Michelin Guide's review
This monument and landmark of the town is affectionately known as the "Quatre sans-cul" (Four arseless!), as the elephants all lack their hind quarters. It was erected in 1838 in tribute to General Comte de Boigne (1751-1830) and his military campaigns, including one to India from which he returned immensely rich.
