The Michelin Guide's review
Located at a remove from the old town of Cartagena, this convent built in 1607 was used as a fortress because of its strategic position at the top of the hill. It houses a pretty patio, a small collection of colonial art and a chapel dedicated to the Virgen de la Candelaria. From its vantage point 150m up, it affords magnificent views over the fortified city, especially at sunset.
