Guangzhou Art Museum
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Opened in 1997, this gallery is one of the largest art museums in southern China. Much of the museum is dedicated to the artists of the so-called "Lingnan" school. Also of interest are the Tibetan thangka - rare paintings used as meditation tools. The museum also presents an interesting overview of calligraphy and Chinese painting up to the modern day. The inner courtyard, decorated with trees and bushes in typical Cantonese style, makes a pleasant spot for a rest.
