Description
The church was built in the late 15C by Mateus Fernandes (architect of Batalha Monastery) on the wishes of Queen Leonor. It is crowned with an elegant bell tower, whose Gothic windows have Manueline decoration. The inside walls are completely covered by 17C azulejos. Note the fronts of the altars, adorned with fine Moorish azulejos, and the attractive triptych attributed to Cristóvão de Figueiredo (early 16C) above the triumphal arch.
