The Michelin Guide's Opinion
A remarkable example of military art in the Middle Ages with its three towers, two of which are fortified, crenelated parapets and pointed cutwaters alternating with seven pointed arches, Valentré bridge is a vision of harmony. The bridge's architect is said to have sold his soul to the devil, but as the former failed to keep his word, the latter vowed to drop the same stone on the bridge every day in vengeance. The right bank of the Lot, upstream from the bridge, offers the best view.
