The Michelin Guide's review
Inextricably linked to the history of the church and guild of crossbowmen, the formerly genteel district of Le Sablon attracted a more popular demographic in the early 20C. For the last few decades, its shops have been taken over by the likes of antique dealers and art galleries. Now chic, it has an atmosphere to be found nowhere else in Brussels. This undeniable character is complemented by the stained-glass windows of the Église de Notre-Dame du Sablon, which are illuminated after dark. Come here to see - and be seen.
