The Michelin Guide's review
The four brass tables that were used by the merchants - where they sealed their deals, and goods were bought and sold in cash - are testament to the street's importance for trade in the city. The sober, Doric-style Council House was built in the 19C. Almost opposite, you can see the giant, pilastered and pedimented Corn Exchange, which was built in the mid-18C.
