The colossal Basilique Notre-Dame was built from 1827 to 1866 on the ruins of the cathedral destroyed after the Revolution. Under the basilica, there is a maze of underground passages linking 12 rooms, including the treasury. The crypt, with its painted pillars, is remarkable.
