The Michelin Guide's review
The largest of Bordeaux's parish churches was classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998 as part of the Way of St James. Construction started in 1350 and continued for two centuries, hence the numerous modifications in evidence, such as the side chapels built from 1475 onwards. Noteworthy features include a statue of St Ursula sheltering a thousand virgins beneath her coat (in the first chapel on the right aisle), and the modern stained-glass windows (a work by Max Ingrand) behind the main altar.
