The Michelin Guide's review
Perched on a rocky spur amid the surrounding vine-covered hillsides, this feudal castle long remained impregnable. Its various terraces still evidence the extent of its defensive system. This ancient fortress of southern Burgundy is mentioned as early as the year 991. Lovely terraced gardens with a colourful vegetable patch, fruit trees, hornbeams, and yews clipped into chess piece shapes. The view over the valley is splendid.
