The Michelin Guide's review
The Haus der Kulturen der Welt (House of World Cultures), a former conference centre nicknamed the "pregnant oyster" because of its round shape , was a gift from the Americans for the Interbau International Architecture Exhibition of 1957. Its bold curves were designed by High Stubbins and the bronze sculpture in the middle of the pool is by Henry Moore. Since 1989, the centre has organised multicultural shows and events from all four continents.
