The Michelin Guide's review
Laid out on several levels around a fountain, this large square (formerly the domain of skin and hide traders) came into being when the shacks that used to stand here were demolished. It is dominated by the Église St Jacques, a former stopover for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela, which now houses contemporary works of art. Presiding over the square is another statue of Cyrano de Bergerac, only this one is painted in colour.
