Beaucaire Fortress

The Michelin Guide's review
First built in the 11C, Beaucaire fortress was torn down on Richelieu's orders. It used to be protected by a wall, the trace of which you can still follow. Along the way, you will see the strange polygonal tower perched on a rocky spur, its façades dominating a sheer drop, and the fine round corner tower. Once inside the walls, a staircase will take you to a small Romanesque chapel with a charming, sculpted tympanum, and then to the Auguste-Jacquet Museum.
