The Michelin Guide's review
This famous 9C abbey, whose church and most of its religious buildings are still intact, nestles in the cirque of Baume-les-Messieurs. The 15C façade of the church and its portal are particularly interesting. The 71m-long nave corresponds to the length of Benedictine processions and was paved with tombstones, of which 40 remain. The abbey's pride and joy is without doubt the magnificent Flemish altarpiece (early 16C).
