The Michelin Guide's review
This quiet space is surrounded by Renaissance buildings that were moved here when the Via Laietana was opened. The neo-Classical church of the same name, built in 1752, stands here. The square was the scene of a bloody episode in the Civil War: on 30 January 1938, bombs dropped by Franco's planes killed 42, mostly children.
