Rue des Ducs-de-Bar
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Once the "grande rue" of the upper town, the rue des Ducs-de-Bar is a harmonious street of golden stone façades built in Renaissance style by aristocrats in the 16C. At n° 41, note the two friezes decorated with military themes; at n° 47, one of the few houses to have retained its gargoyles, the post-war writer, Georges Bernanos wrote one of his books; n° 53 has a door framed by a sculpted arch; and n° 73 boasts fine wall lights representing musical instruments.
