The Michelin Guide's review
This memorial museum devoted to the terrible earthquake of 1995 was erected on the site of the epicentre and the Nojima fault created by the cataclysm. Educational displays and a preserved section of the fracture line make it possible to grasp the scope and violence of the quake. Outside the edifice, Memorial House is one of the few to have miraculously survived. The living room simulates what the earthquake felt like over a 40 second period, thanks to machinery in the floor. Documentary films with powerful images are also shown.
