The Michelin Guide's review
The church stands, a little lonely-looking, at the top of a staircase at the start of Corso Matteotti. Inside, you will see the elegant geometry of its original Greek cross floor plan (11C) and its apses with hemispherical domes gently lit by their central oculus. The Gothic nave was added in the 13C. It contains some fine artwork, in particular the Descent from the Cross by Il Sodoma and, opposite, the Virgin and Child, which has not been definitively attributed to any artist.
