The Michelin Guide's review
The El Romeral dolmen was a collective burial chamber, just like the Menga and Viera dolmen. More recent than the latter (1800 BC), this dolmen is also more complex in structure: it features projecting flat stone walls, two circular chambers and a gallery surmounted with limestone slabs. The first chamber is enclosed by a large monolithic slab and surmounted by a false ceiling, the first in the history of architecture. The second chamber houses an altar once used for ceremonial offerings.
