Apocalypse Tapestry
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Displayed in Angers Castle, the Apocalypse Tapestry was commissioned around 1375 and took seven years to complete. Originally 140m long and 6m high, the tapestry consisted of six sections, each comprising a figure seated on a dais looking towards two cycles of 7 scenes which made up a checkerboard pattern of alternating red and blue backgrounds. The tapestry recounts the final book of the New Testament, the Apocalypse.
