The Michelin Guide's Opinion
This English-style park, created in 1864 by J.D. Zocher, is very popular with walkers, cyclists and skaters. It is named after J van den Vondel, a great Golden Age poet. It is dotted with handsome trees and boasts a rose garden and several lakes. Other sights of interest include the Hollandsche Manege, a riding school (1882) designed by A. L. Van Gendt and decorated with stucco and wrought-iron, and the Vondelkerk (Vondelstraat 120), a neo-Gothic church built in 1880.
