The Michelin Guide's review
Artist, Ferdinand Bol, a pupil of Rembrandt and a famous portrait-painter, was a tenant of this house, which belonged to the merchant, Van Raey. The Van Loon family, cofounder of the East Indies Company and owner since 1884, turned the house into a museum. The attractive interior is adorned with works by the artist. The superb stair banister (latter half of the 18C) in interlacing copper, and the formal French garden, resembling a miniature park, are both worthy of mention.
