This building, erected in 1903, is the work of Berlage, the pioneer of Dutch modern architecture and is depicted by an austere brick exterior. Since 1987, the covered galleries of the Grote Zaal have been converted into an arts and cultural centre. The former stock exchange (AEX) organises guided tours (Dutch only), which give visitors a glimpse behind the scenes and an overview of the history of trading in the Netherlands.
