The Michelin Guide's Opinion
This broad street leading into the Damrak, covers what used to be the mouth of the Amstel, of which all that remains today is a small basin, near the Muntplein, lined to the east by the Allard Pierson Museum. Although modern buildings disrupt the architectural unity of the Rokin, some façades by Vingboons (Nos 91 and 145) do survive. Cigar lovers should not miss the Hajenius shop (Nos 92-96), open for business since 1826.
