The Michelin Guide's review
Amrum is hands down the most original and unspoiled of the archipelago's islands. The huge Kniepsand beach shelters it to the west from the assaults of the North Sea. A number of prehistoric and protohistoric artefacts found near Steenode shed light on the history of Friesland. Nebel, its prettiest village, grew up around St Clement Church in the 16C. Also of interest is the Öömrang Hüs, a sea captain's house, built in 1736.
