Treasure of St Antoine Church, Ambazac
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This simple 12C church with a late-15C chancel has two exceptional objects. The first is the imposing reliquary of St Étienne (1189) in hammered and inlaid brass embellished with enamels, precious stones and intaglios. The second is the dalmatic said to have belonged to St Étienne de Muret, a silk liturgical vestment with vivid gold motifs on a red background emblazoned with a Byzantine twin-headed eagle.
